Facebook is, at least for the time being, a social media phenomenon if you  look at the site statistics. Love it or hate it, its where people hang out, communicate, load photos and exchange news.

Once you log into Facebook you will notice there are quite a few features there, and to the unitiated these can be quite intimidating. With a little help and guidance you will soon see there is more to Facebook than at first meets the eye. If you dig deeper you will find a whole array of Facebook stuff that at first feels overhelming.

Most psychic readings do not begin as spectacularly as mine had.

Psychic Readings

First off,  there was the statement that my sister and I were both psychic and then the question about the crystal skull!  Brigid and I exchanged one of our ‘how weird is this’ looks as our psychic walked into her living room and set the tea cups on a table. Before either of us could say anything, she asked who wanted to go first? Brigid urged me on as this was her gift to me, so off I went to the ‘reading room’ a small, pleasant room that overlooked the garden.  The psychic wasted no time. She handed me a page of notes that she had written before Brigid and I arrived.  That was basically my reading! And what a reading it was!

She had noted physical characteristics that were spot on,  issues that I was trying to resolve at the time, predicted a trip that would happen three years in the future to a place I did not fancy going,  predicted some financial events that were still in the future, and alerted me to a health problem that my husband would face within a few months time and told me that I would one day be doing what she was doing: I would be a professional psychic!

When I finished reading, I looked at her in astonishment.  She had ‘received’ all of this in meditation the day before the reading.  Remember, she had only my sister’s first name and no other information about us.  Was she accurate?  Judge for yourself.

Her physical description of me: height, hair and eye colour, even the fact that I had had surgery for a rare condition twenty years previously, were eerily accurate.  I had no plans to travel–but, unbeknownst to me  my mother did and within three years we were in Eire, a country would not have chosen as a destination. The financial events she foresaw also happened and my husband had bowel surgery (sixth months later) for a condition that had not yet shown itself at the time of the reading.

As we went over the details of the reading, other revelations emerged but as my profession was definitely ‘left brain’ at the time and I had gone to great lengths to hide my ‘psychic side’ from colleagues and even friends, I could not imagine being a professional psychic.  But on that point ,too, she proved correct. Mrs. H explained that her late husband had been an anthropologist and in the early years of their marriage she had accompanied him on his field studies in various countries. One of the more remarkable objects that he had found in the course of exploring some ancient dwelling places was the crystal skull.  Its date of manufacture and provenance remained a mystery despite his best efforts to trace the object back to its creators.

Many apocryphal stories surrounded the skull but Dr. H was not convinced by any of them and in the end accepted that perhaps the crystal skull had come into his possession for reasons that would only become clear over time.

The monograph that he wrote on the skull remained unpublished at the time of his death at an early age. The widowed Mrs. H, however, found that when she  ’sensed’ late her husband’s presence around her,  she was repeatedly drawn to the skull. Over time she learned to ‘listen’ to the skull and found that it seemed to act as a medium of communication between her and her deceased husband.  She found that she had mental impressions and intimations of changes that were to occur in her life and this enabled her to prepare herself and others for such events.

Mrs. H came to think of the skull as an aid in keeping her ‘on track’ in terms of becoming more sensitive to subtle ‘messages’ from ‘higher consciousness’. Holding the skull whilst sitting quietly and opening her consciousness to receive whatever might be coming her way, had become a daily practice that led to deeper and deeper experiences of the subtle level of communication that humans are capable of. A few years after Sean had finished graduate school, he read  with some sorrow of the death of Mrs. H.  It had been her final wish for the skull to be buried with her.

My first experience with a psychic was a reading arranged by my sister.

Psychic Readings

Brigid and I had always been deeply ‘attuned’ to one another and often one of us would pick up the phone to call the other and find that, even before dialling (!), we were connected. This was a bit remarkable as we lived most of our adult lives in different countries. However, on the day in question the last thing I expected was that the professional and highly reputable psychic we were going to meet would greet us at the door with the exclamation: “Why are you coming to see me? You two are already psychic.”

Say, what?  Shocked but intrigued (the psychic had only my sister’s first name and nothing else as this was long before Caller ID had been invented), we followed the psychic inside her modest, quiet home.  She graciously offered us tea and then turned and looked at me in a curious manner. “I’m being prompted to ask you about the ‘crystal skull’. Does that mean anything to you?”

Stunned by the question, I took a moment to register how bizarre the situation was. A total stranger was asking me about something that only my husband and I knew. When he was in graduate school, he had boarded in the home of an elderly woman who took a maternal interest in Sean. His charming manner, quick wit and gregarious personality drew many people to him and Mrs. H was no exception. After Sean had been there for a few months, he saw something in Mrs. H’s china closet that he hadn’t noticed before: a beautiful piece of crystal that caught and refracted the autumn light streaming through the dining room window.  Mrs. H followed his gaze and asked if he would like to hold the object. Sean, of course, said yes. His bemusement turned to wonder as he realised that the crystal was made in the shape of a human skull.
